The New England Numismatic Association (NENA) is excited to announce an engaging and educational experience for young numismatists ages 5-17. On April 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM EST, NENA will host its Young Numismatists (YN) Program at the DoubleTree Hotel, located at 700 Elm Street in Manchester, NH.
The program will build off of NENA’s mission to Collect, Connect, and Educate, offering youth a chance to learn about the fascinating world of coin design. This interactive session will feature Chris Costello, an award-winning numismatic designer, who has created coins and medals for major mints, including The Royal Mint, The Colombian Mint, and The U.S. Mint. His accolades include the 2019 Coin of the Year Award and first place in the 2018 Henry Johnson National Medal Design Competition. He has designed two Congressional Gold Medals, several National Parks and American Women Quarters, and numerous military medals. Chris will speak about the intricacies of coin design concepts and will present engaging content specifically tailored for younger audiences, inspiring the next generation of coin designers.
In addition to the lecture, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a hands-on coin design workshop, allowing them to create their own unique coin designs. The event is designed to spark creativity and provide educational value, making it a perfect experience for aspiring numismatists.
